Covering a vaccination clinic as a locum: a 10-minute checklist
Walking into an unfamiliar pharmacy with a booked vaccination clinic? Run this checklist before your first patient.
More shifts now include a booked vaccination clinic. Before your first patient:
1. Confirm your own cert and indemnity cover the service — both should already be in your Pharmacy Passport.
2. Find the anaphylaxis kit and check the adrenaline expiry. Know where the second kit is.
3. Check the fridge log for the vaccine stock you'll be using.
4. Locate the consent forms or the digital consent flow in the dispensing system.
5. Confirm the observation area and the 15-minute policy the pharmacy uses.
6. Ask which staff member is your second person for the session.
Good pharmacies (and good shift listings on this platform) tell you about the clinic before you accept — check the shift notes for clinic size and booking status before you tap accept.
